Things to know before you visit

One of the most popular ways to visit the museum is to combine it with a walk or picnic at Roesland in the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. Access to the museum and Roesland is from the same parking lot off South Otter Bay Road.

At low to medium tides, the trail continues to beautiful Roe Islet. Refer to this tide table to make sure you get access to Roe Islet.

For boaters, sailors or kayakers moored nearby, the museum is accessible from the national park dock at Roesland. Please refer to the Google Map at the bottom of the page

Picnic tables and benches are available at Roe Inlet.

Dogs must be on-leash in the national park. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the museum or you can leave them on the porch. A water bowl is available during open hours.

Fruit picking

Have a taste of history—pick some fruit in the orchard surrounding our museum. Our orchard is a living example of horticultural practices from the Victorian era and the Gulf Islands’ rich history as the once top apple-producing region in British Columbia. Visit the Gulf Islands National Park website for more information.
